Obama Shooting Skeet Photo Modification

Obama Shooting Skeet Photo Modification.

[I’ve got some great links below, so don’t be shy to pull the trigger on your hand-held point-and-click apparatus!]

Well, the White House can’t avoid being tyrannical even in the little things. There is a photo out there of Obama shooting skeet and you are not supposed to make ANY modifications to it. Presumably on pain of death if the tone used on The White House’s flickr is any indication. I first came across the story here, learned more and developed my opinion here. Pileus has their own analysis here. And it looks like I am not the only one who decided to defy the will of the supreme leader upon first becoming aware of the dictate:

In case you can’t detect the irony (which I think is pretty good, but then, I’m biased), it is in two parts. First, it seems that most liberals like to qualify their support for gun control by saying, “Sure, self-defense is a right, but what do you need assault rifles or large capacity magazines for?” I don’t see why this liberal logic can’t be extended to include recreational weapons such as shot guns, which after all, when used in self-defense, can cause more damage to a bad guy than is really necessary. In fact, all you really need to do is hit him in the shin with a golf club. There is no sense in going overboard with buckshot or automatic reloading or any of that other excessively violent stuff.

The other part of the irony is that liberals qualify further by saying, “It’s okay for people who really need them [police, military, the bodyguards of the rich and famous, and…uh…criminal gangs?] to have them, your average ordinary person has no use for such things, nor is it really codified in the Constitution.” But Obama, in the picture, is obviously trying to connect with us average folks. But, once you clear away the propaganda, he is still the leader of the (formerly) free world. He is not an ordinary person. He is an elitist. He has bodyguards to protect him and his family. Even so, if he is not using that shotgun as a last resort in self-defense, he really doesn’t need it! Oh, and if he shoots skeets as often as he says he does, he has way too much leisure time on his hands. What do we pay him for? Shouldn’t he be out pushing more stringent gun control measures or something? Like repeal of the Dick Act (which itself isn’t perfect but still affirms the concept of citizen ownership of firearms)?

Any thoughts?
